
Biography
Gabrielle Lou, Psy.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist (PSY 28231). Her work as psychologist emerges from more than two decades of observing the human condition through personal inner work, professional experience, and on-going studies. She holds a doctoral degree in clinical psychology and has been practicing psychotherapy since 2010.
Throughout her career, Dr. Lou has worked with diverse populations with a variety of challenges ranging from severe mental illness to everyday relationship issues. She has had the opportunity to treat children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families from different cultural backgrounds. She also has experience working with faith-based communities and LGBTQ population. Her first position in the field was at the University of California San Francisco AIDS Health Project providing psychotherapy to LGBTQ communities.

Dr. Lou has extensive training in depth-oriented approaches including relational psychoanalytic theory, analytical psychology, expression art therapy, dreamwork, and Sandplay therapy. She has also been trained in psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, existentialism-humanistic, transpersonal approaches as well as spiritual development. She is a certified spiritual director. Her doctoral dissertation explored the nature of sanity and insanity from both Western and Eastern medical, psychological, and spiritual perspectives.
Dr. Lou offers presentations and workshops on the interrelationship between psychology and spirituality internationally. Topics include Sexuality and Spirituality, Power and Spirituality, Transformation of Hate, and a Psychospiritual Awakening on the Suffering of Humankind in the Midst of Global Adversities.
She is no stranger to the fast pace life of Silicon Valley. Prior to becoming a psychologist, she had worked in a Research and Development department at a global high-tech firm in Silicon Valley for more than twelve years and co-invented more than a dozen US patents.
Originally from Hong Kong, she has been living in the US since the early eighties. Her own diverse background allows for high regard and sensitivity for ethical, cultural, and religious values. Dr. Lou is bilingual and offers psychotherapy in both English and Cantonese.
